This year’s homecoming day landed on September 30, and was full of celebration and fun! Events throughout the day included races, fun activities for families, the Varsity girls and boys soccer games, and the homecoming dance in the evening. The day started off at 8am with the Coleman Lynn Wright Kids’ Fun Run on the Billy Glisson Field, followed by the Run for the Rams 5k race which led runners of all ages through campus and around the neighborhood.

The family fun zone was held from 11am to 2pm, and was filled with excitement, activities for all ages, and lively music provided by DJ DorsE. There were bounce houses, a giant game of darts, gaga ball, and corn hole. Miss Joy’s face painting offered a variety of colorful and detailed designs.

Multiple upper school organizations also set up booths to share their goals with the community and fundraise. The MVS Rambotics team sold food and refreshments from Canes to raise money for their competition season. They also had demonstrations of their robot driving around carrying an almost life size cardboard cutout of Mr. Walker, one of the team’s teacher advisors. The Hope Squad also had a tent where they shared about what Hope Squad does and passed out green bracelets to spread awareness of the importance of mental health. The Prom Committee sold concessions for spectators as they cheered on the soccer teams, with profits going towards organizing this year’s Prom dance.

The girls varsity soccer team played against Northeastern in a close game with a final score of 1-3. The boys varsity soccer team had a tremendous victory against Northeastern with a final score of 2-0. Senior Recognition for both the girls and boys teams between matches and during halftime, where senior players were celebrated for their last game playing for MVS.

In the evening, festive fall hay bales and autumn leaves decorated the Rose Theater and Janny Stage for the homecoming dance themed “FALLing For You”. The upper school Student Government did an amazing job organizing this year’s dance, making sure there was great music, food, and vibes all around! With a schedule of events from morning to evening, homecoming brought fun events and exciting memories for the whole community!
