Merbert. That is the name of our school robotics (MVS Rambotics) team’s labor. Headed by lead builder Wyatt Eros (Class of ‘27), lead coder Caleb Meeker (Class of ‘27), and lead outreach Yuvi Gupta (Class of ‘26), the team has made astounding progress throughout the school year, building and optimizing Merbert. For this year, Merbert’s job is to suck up wiffle-type balls about the size of a softball with the intake (circled in red) and shoot them out of its launcher (circled in yellow) into a basket. Ultimately, the more balls you shoot, the more points you score.

Recently, Merbert went on its maiden voyage and showed how efficient the team’s engineering can be. At a scrimmage at Loveland High School, Merbert, piloted by Caleb, placed 8th out of 16 teams and scored the second most points of all the robots! Of course, members of the team were extremely happy with this result, as this is a huge step in the right direction. The team is hoping to carry this momentum into the next couple of weeks, where they have their first competition at Sinclair Community College. If they continue to do well, they can be awarded a spot at a State competition. The most important thing to take away is that you should be proud of the Rambotics team and congratulate them on what they do. Building and maintaining a robot is an arduous task, so support them any way you can. If you have any connections or people who might be interested in giving support or advice, then send an email to Yuvi Gupta (yuvraj.gupta@mvschool.com).
