As per the MVS tradition, every school year, the Upper School has a Fall play and a Spring musical. Besides the extra special addition of a student-directed play this year, the musical that’s been chosen for the Spring is Little Shop of Horrors!

The story of Little Shop of Horrors revolves around a human-eating plant’s conquest to take over the world, and it follows a clumsy, down-on-his-luck orphan boy who finds himself stuck between his own morals and feeding the plant.

Little Shop of Horrors is a classic show for musical theater fans, and it’s an absolutely electric experience for those watching it for the first time. Little Shop of Horrors is a mix of everything that makes musical theater terrific. With elements of comedy, drama, and horror, the show manages to be serious while maintaining the lighthearted and fun feeling of musical theater. This blend of genres on stage is paired with a thrilling soundtrack of Rock and Doo-Wop music that will make your night out to the theater truly unforgettable. There are so many reasons to come see Little Shop of Horrors, but if there’s one thing the show will leave you with, it’s a smile. 

There’s a variety of students taking part in this musical, ranging from freshmen to seniors. Throughout the cast, we have Alden Pachman as one of the leads—Seymour Krelborn, Mia Byarlay as the other main lead—Audrey. The rest of the main cast includes Jonathan Pickens as Mr. Mushnik, Caleb Meeker as Orin Scrivello D.D.S., Naemah Nzeruem as the voice of Audrey II, Rayna Annamraju as the body/puppeteer of Audrey II, as well as ensemble, and lastly, Emma Myers, Holly Cook, Quin Tyler, Ellie Kmucha, Ryleigh Manuel, and Parker Winston as the Urchins. The ensemble for the musical includes Mar Shoup, Michael McCallum, Bani Chattopadhyay, Grace Mitchell, Sophie Robinson, Rayna Annamraju, Giulia Boni, and Trip Peterson. These people are all ready to put on an amazing show!

This musical will have shows throughout April 16th – April 18th at 7 pm, and April 19th at 2 pm.
