On Thursday, November 13th, The Miami Valley School hosted its second annual Art Night. Art Night showcases the art from MVS students across the divisions and provides interactive activities for families. This year, Art Night featured Klaus Massey and Brihanna Howell on the potter’s wheel, Patience Peterson demonstrating casting, and Xinyuan Zhang and Coen Dornacher playing live music in the Cleary Gallery and Lofino Atrium. Art Night provided a raffle, with studio art classes for the Dayton Art Institute, Tejas Art Gallery, and Rosewood Art Center as prizes. Art Night’s history goes all the way back to 2018, when an “Art Hop” was invented to increase attendance for the State of the School address. Along the way, this transformed into a partnership between the art and music departments to allow for Art Hop preceding school concerts. In recent years, Mr. Ward, with help from the entire art department, has expanded and built upon this idea to turn it into its own evening gathering with interactive elements, performances, and more art.
If you’d like to continue supporting art at MVS, other events this December include the Middle School and Upper School Winter Concerts on the 10th and the Lower School Winter Concert on the 17th.
